Hospital Acquired Infections
Project
Hospital Acquired Infection (HAI) Elimination &
Continued Sepsis Mortality Reduction
Hospital Acquired Infections are often preventable with the appropriate intervention, yet there about 1.7 million cases per year in the US, with approximately 99,000 deaths.

Sepsis is treatable with early intervention. However, it is the number one cause of death in ICU's nationally.  An estimated four to five patients die per day of sepsis in our region.

Goal
Getting to Zero Preventable HAI's by December 2012This project is a multidisciplinary, regional effort to get the number of HAI’s (VAP, CLABSI & CAUTI) as close to zero as possible in our region and to improve the overall patient outcome.  Participants will continue working and reporting on their progress reducing sepsis mortality and building on their tremendous work in 2010.
